Probation After Death 10-4-25 Sara Lincoln
Probation is a time of testing to see if a person’s thought, motives, and acts stand corrected. I’m no longer ‘on probation’ if enlightened thinkers can see that I now have a true and proper sense of thinking and doing. There is no separate mortalnomind with its own motives and acts.
Mind is the source of all thinking and doing, and Mind is ______. We can think rightly about motives and acts every day as we pray the Lord’s Prayer, especially the lines: And lead us not into t___________, but deliver us from _________; And G____ leadeth us not into temptation, but delivereth us from s_____, d________, and d________. SH 16-17.
The true and proper sense of ‘death’ is that it never can kill L______, which is G______ and therefore always manifested in m_______. The belief that man is material includes the belief that man can d_____, but “man is not material; he is s________.” SH 468. Every time I choose spiritual sense as my sense, I am moving up and out of probation because I am proving that I rely on divine _______, not on a human belief.
Death is not what happens to life. Death is only a mist of d_________ which is dispersed by the constant fact of l________. Jesus said, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the l________ of l________. John 8: 12.
Death is not a friend. If death were ‘a friend,’ Jesus would have stayed in the tomb to be with his friend! Instead, he might have said, “Death, you are not a friend, you are a dream, and I’m not dreaming! I’m awake and alive and I’m getting out of here!”
All the writers in the Bible give us examples of light displacing darkness, life displacing death. Isaiah said (Isa. 60: 1, 2) ________________________________________________________________________________
One Psalmist said (Ps. 116: 9) ____________________________________________________
Let’s see what the author of Psalm 23 says about ‘death.’
Many people say they are afraid of death, but that’s only because people can’t see when their eyes are closed! When we open our eyes, our thought, we see l_______ and l________.
Do the rules and principle of soccer require a square ball? ____ Why not?
Does God who lives Life in man require death? ____ God, divine good, does not k______ a man in order to give him eternal L_____, for God alone is ________ ________ SH 203: 31-32.
When do we ‘overcome death’? We overcome death n______. We overcome it every time this world belief tries to be our thinking. We say, N____. God is Life and everyone’s l_____, always.
We need to ‘correct the error’ about death even when many people are insisting that the error is true? A true error would be a strange thing indeed! Will it always be easy to correct the error about death?_____ Christian Science alerts all followers of Christ Jesus: We must have trials and self-denials, as well as joys and victories, until all error is destroyed. SH 39: 8-9.
Jesus didn’t teach his followers how to ‘prepare for death.’ He taught them how to be blessed now and forever. Where in the Bible does Jesus give many ‘Blessed are’ promises? _________ Let’s name the qualities of thought that mean life now and always in the kingdom of heaven.
Did Jesus overcome death? _____ What is your proof?
Knowing that God was the Life of man, Jesus was able to present himself unchanged after the crucifixion. SH 555: 30.
He didn’t do it just for himself. He did it for __________. Jesus ___________ _____ the path for _________. He unveiled the _________, the spiritual idea of divine Love. SH 38: 24-26.
The ‘Christ’ is the r________ m________. I am the ‘C________ man.’ Are you? ______
The Christ can never die because the Christ is i________, not m________.
Paul said, ‘we preach that Christ rose from the dead. If he didn’t, then there is no resurrection. But he did, so our preaching is not in vain and your faith in eternal life is not in vain.’
I Cor. 15: 1, 3-8.
The religion that helps us understand how to overcome death now is _________________.
In SH 410: 1. Mary Baker Eddy says that if we don’t pay any attention to what it says about life and death, we won’t be ready to enjoy life now and forever. How do we ‘pay attention’ to Christian Science? ___________________________________________________________
If you don’t pay any attention to the rules of your sport, or the rules of grammar and mathematics, you won’t be able to play the g______ or succeed in s________.
The Psalmist knew God as loving and kind. She said How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! Ps. 36: 7. Verse 9 says, For with thee is the fountain of _______: in thy _________ shall we see light. God does not hide in the darkness or require us to live in darkness.
A loving and kind God never lets us sit down in darkness and be comfortable. No. A loving and kind God says stand up in My light and let’s get going on our wonderful adventure called your individual life. No need for you to be ‘on probation’ because you know Me and I know you! We illustrate infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation. Let’s go!
As always, Science and Health, 242: 9, tells it like it is. The marginal heading says ‘the one only way’ and the passage tells us what actions we need to take to experience heaven, harmony, now and forever. Let’s underline the actions we need to take:
There is but one way to heaven, harmony, and Christ in divine Science shows us this way. It is to know no other reality — to have no other consciousness of life — than good, God and His reflection, and to rise superior to the so-called pain and pleasure of the senses.
Man's privilege at this supreme moment is to prove the words of our Master: "If a man keep my saying, he shall _______ ______ _______." SH 428: 6-8.
We must realize the ability of __________ __________ to offset human misconceptions and to replace them with the life which is spiritual, not material. SH 428: 19.
I will not be on probation after death because I am making it my business to know every day that my life is in Life, now and forever. Now that is mental might!

Doctrine of Atonement
Doctrine of Atonement 4-18-10 Sara Lincoln
Let’s think of ‘atonement’ as meaning at-one-ment. What does it mean to be ‘at one’ with something? For example, are you ‘at one’ with any sport? _¬¬¬_________ Any hobby? ______
Was the man Jesus at-one with God?____ Was Christ, God’s idea of man, at-one with God?__ ‘The Christ’ was Jesus’ understanding that G_____ and m______ are one, like sunshine is one with the sun. Thanks to Christian Science, everyone everywhere can learn about and prove at-one-ment with Life, Truth, Love, ---with God.
Did Jesus say, I and my Father are one? _______John 10: 30. Did he mean, I am the Father? __ Jesus knew that the one who was sent is not greater than the One who sent.
Jesus said, in effect, I don’t try to do anything by myself or for myself, for “I do always those things that please Him.” John 8: 29. Can you and I say the same? ____
In my dictionary, ‘atonement’ includes this Christian Science definition: The exemplification of man’s unity with God, whereby man reflects divine Truth, Life, and Love. To ‘exemplify’ is to provide an__________. Who exemplified man’s unity with God? ____________________. Not only Christ Jesus but also someone who wrote a book with many examples and proofs that man is at one with God, even though ‘man’ continues to look very much like a human. What book is that, and who wrote it? ________________________________________________
And there is another book written by many people over hundreds of years: _______________
Throughout the Bible, God shows us what is good. An Old Testament prophet, Micah, shows us what the Lord requires: do ________; love _________; and walk ___________ with thy God. Micah 6: 8.
A Psalmist said it this way in Psalm 51: 10: Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Do you think maybe Jesus sometimes prayed this prayer? ______
When Moses and the Children of Israel were first learning how to be closer to God, be at-one with God, they sacrificed animals on an altar. They were worshipping an anthropomorphic (a m____¬¬___ m_______) sense of God. They hadn’t yet learned that God’s only ‘nose’ is that He ‘knows’ that ‘man’ is His image and likeness. After Moses, many Prophets taught the Jews a more spiritual sense of God, but ________ _________ taught them the most spiritual sense of God, and God’s creation, man. About 30 years after Jesus ascended, ________ reminded and encouraged them to be true and stay at-one. How many letters to churches did this man write? __
In Philippians 2: 12-13, Paul said, ______ works with you, helping you to know and do God’s good will. “Truth has furnished the key to the kingdom, and with this key _________ ________has opened the door of the _____________ ____________.”
SH 99: 9-11.
Matthew says that Jesus was “led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.” Matt. 4: 1.The ‘devil’ tried to tempt Jesus by offering three good things. What were they? b________ from a stone; s________ if he jumped off the Temple; r_______ and p_______ if he would just worship another god. Perhaps Spirit – God really led Jesus to a mental place where he could defeat ‘the devil’ and prove even more of man’s dominion. ‘The devil,’ evil, wanted to separate Jesus from God, but Jesus knew he was at one with his Father-Mother God.
Did Jesus say, Stand porter at the door of thought…Resist evil – error of every sort – and it will flee from you? _____ SH 392: 24 and 406: 19.
Can you have the mind which was also in Christ Jesus? ______ Who said so?______ What proof did he have? ________________________________________________________
Phil. 2: 5.
Some people wanted Jesus to heal their friend who ‘had the palsy,’ was paralyzed. Mark 2: 1-12. They couldn’t get near the house where Jesus was, so they climbed up on the roof and let the man down through the opening in the roof. When Jesus saw their ________ (verse 5) he said to the man, “Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.” Maybe his only sin was believing he had a disease not made by God. The Pharisees were furious. They did not know, and were not interested in learning, that “the son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins…” (verse 10). The Pharisees were at-one with the human intellect, their many books of commentary on the Old Testament. They had forgotten that the Prophets wanted the Israelites to be at-one with God Himself.
The Pharisees accused Jesus of b__________, which means great disrespect towards God.
The real man being linked by _________ to his Maker, mortals need only turn from _______ and lose sight of mortal selfhood to find Christ, the r______ m______ and his relation to God, and to recognize the divine s___________. SH 316: 3.
The r________ m________ is spiritual.
You are at-one with your human family and friends because that is an illustration of being at-one with your F________ - M_________ God.
John said, Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15: 13. Does ‘lay down your life’ mean ‘die’? ___ It means lay out your life as an e______.
Do you feel ‘the arm of the Lord’ embracing you, protecting you? ______ Then you are experiencing on-going rebirth. This is having part in the atonement; this is the understanding, in which Jesus suffered and triumphed. SH 24: 11-15. Do you have to ‘suffer’ to be at-one with God? ______ Proving ‘atonement’ takes practice and great effort, just like it does to be at-one with a sport you love, but do you have to suffer? ______ It will take wisdom and humility to refuse offers from ‘the devil,’ who doesn’t even have those things to give in the first place!
Do you have to suffer to be wise and willing? ______
Christian Science shows us how to be on the at-one-ment path. If Truth is overcoming error in your daily walk and conversation, you can finally say, “I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith,” because you are a better man. This is having our part in the at-one-ment with Truth and Love. SH 21: 1-5. Are you always willing to let ‘Truth’ overcome ‘error’? ______
Micah said: Do _________; love __________; and walk ___________ with thy God.
Are Mary Baker Eddy’s words similar to what the Prophet Micah said? ________:
‘Doctrine’ means ‘teaching.’ The Christian Science teaching about Atonement is that _______ is at-one with ___________.

Are Sin, Disease, and Death Real?
Are Sin, Disease, and Death Real? 4-11-10 Sara Lincoln
Are sin, disease, and death real? The counterfeit mind called ‘mortal mind’ would answer ____
In our class, we call it ‘mortalnomind’ because it knows only its own dream, not God//Mind.
How would the one and only Mind called God answer the question?_______, not real.
If someone is going to come out of a dream into the light of day, that person needs to ______. See the first word of our Golden Test from Ephesians 5: 14: …A___________.
Those 3 dots before the ‘A’ mean that the beginning words of that verse were ______________.
The Prophet Jeremiah was very concerned about ‘false prophets’ who told the people their own version of the truth instead of listening to God. According to Jeremiah, Jer. 23: 32, the Lord said that the dreams of the false prophets “shall not _________this people at all…”
There is no ___________ or gain in being a false ____________ and telling dreams.
Do we have false prophets on television that would cause people “to forget {God’s} name by their dreams…?” _______. These false prophets want you to remember the name of a _______, not the name of God, when you need a healing. Perhaps they don’t intend to do harm to God’s people, but they do harm because these television ads try to convince you to believe in disease and disorder, in matter instead of in Spirit. If you had the authority, would you prohibit ads that promote the belief in sick matter and material remedies? _______
You and I do have the authority to do the most important thing: to wake up from the dream of a mortalnomind. Our authority is in trusting ________ and in healing through s_________ means.
The Prophet Micah gave us words to use: “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a _______ _______ _____.” Micah 7: 8.
Sin, sickness, and death wear masks that make them look like God either created them or allows man to have what ‘another god’ created. The mask suggests this: ‘Everyone agrees: it’s too bad, but sin, sickness and death are normal and real.’ If Christian Scientists are awake and not dreaming, they will pray with these words from God through the Prophet Isaiah; “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” Isa. 45: 22
I am Good so I do not make sin, disease, or death.
What three prophets have we mentioned so far: _____________, _________, _____________.
Which two wrote long books in the Old Testament? ________________ and ______________.
Christian Science takes the lead in waking up everyone with the amazing declaration that error is the story of a dream: “the history of error is a dream-narrative…the dreamer and dream are one, for neither is true nor real.” SH 530: 26-29.
E__________ equals d___________.
If you were God, would you make error? _____ Would you make sin, sickness, and death? ____ Thank you Mary Baker Eddy for helping us ask and answer these questions, and for telling the world that “God created all through ________, and made all ________ and eternal.” SH 205:12.
One book in the Bible appears nine times in this week’s lesson, the book of ________________ David and others showed that they were asking ‘Are sin, disease, and death real?’ and finding their answers in ________. They understood that you can’t just say ‘no.’ You have to understand why they do not exist in truth. Sin, disease, and death do not exist in truth because God is T________, and God, G_______, doesn’t make ‘bad.’
Science and Health says things in such a memorable way: “Instead of God sending sickness and death, He __________ them, and brings to light immortality….God does not cause man to sin, to be sick, or to die.” SH 206 26-28, 30. ‘Immortality’ means ______________________________.
The Apostle Paul says, here’s how you avoid sin: “__________ to righteousness, and sin not.” I Cor. 15: 34. ‘Righteousness’ means _________________________________________.
If you don’t control evil thoughts, what happens? They will _________ ______.
SH 234: 26-27.
“To the Christian Science healer, _____________ is a __________ from which the patient needs to be awakened.” SH 417: 20-21.
The ‘corporeal senses’ are the b_________ senses. What can master and conquer the bodily senses? ________. SH 393: 8. “______ is God’s remedy for error of every kind…” SH 142: 31
L___________, the brother of Mary and Martha, got sick and died. He was put in a tomb, like Jesus was in last week’s lesson. The sisters sent for Jesus, hoping he could help, and yet, when Jesus said, “Thy brother shall rise again,” Martha didn’t believe it could happen right away, before “the resurrection at the last day” when everyone who has died will rise again. Jesus realized he had to state the truth again. “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live, and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?” John 11: 25-26. How would you answer the question Jesus asked Martha? Do you believe what Christ Jesus said, that you will never die if you believe in him? _________
We must start proving now “that man is, not shall be, perfect and immortal.” We must give up m___________ b___________ and admit the i_____________ f__________. SH 428: 22-29.
Christ Jesus helped Mary and Martha learn this. They went to the tomb of Lazarus. For a moment “Jesus wept.” John 11:35. Was Jesus afraid Lazarus was ‘really dead’? ______ Do you think Jesus was a little sad? He had been teaching these close friends, but when they needed to prove the truth that man cannot die, instead they agreed with the error that he had died. Anyway, Jesus did not rebuke them. He thanked God for hearing his prayer then called out for Lazarus to ‘come forth!’ “And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes…Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.” John 11: 41-44. The family needed to ‘loose him’ from the graveclothes. They also needed to loose Lazarus from the belief that he had been d____.
How did Jesus raise the dead? “Jesus restored Lazarus by the understanding that Lazarus had ________ ________.” Jesus would not admit the lie that his body had died and then lived again. SH 75: 12-20. Does this teach us what to think and pray when we hear that someone is sinning, diseased, or dead? ______ We thank God that it is Life - l_______ that is always true.
Sin, disease, and death are never true, because God did not ________ ________. Then we trust the Christ, God’s action in man, to ‘improve on a false sense’ – the corporeal sense. With persistence (doing it again and again) we affirm “the power and willingness of divine Mind to hold man forever intact in his perfect state, and to govern man’s entire action.” SH 493: 28-2.
What is your main reason for affirming that sin, disease, and death are not real? ____________
Are sin, disease, and death real? The counterfeit mind called ‘mortal mind’ would answer ____
In our class, we call it ‘mortalnomind’ because it knows only its own dream, not God//Mind.
