Maybe we could say that the lies of mortal mind are like the early morning fog. The fog ‘self-destructs’ as the sun shines brighter. ‘Sun’ is the symbol of Soul governing man.
See SH Glossary.
I say thank you to Mary Baker Eddy for exposing and naming the enemy that would destroy us as is was supposed to destroy Daniel. That enemy is a b________ in more than one M_________, more than one God. God is o____________ so there is nothing that can harm man who is in God’s care. Omni-potent means _____ ________.
To be very sure I don’t get tricked by a belief in evil, here is what I say and remember about God: II Sam. 22: 33.
How did this evil belief called mortal mind // animal magnetism try to trick Jesus when he went into the wilderness after he was baptized? Matt. 4: 1-4, 8-11.
Jesus did not get tricked by the t__________, alias the d________, because Jesus, like Daniel, trusted the protective armor of his innocence. Mortals and Immortals
Mortals and Immortals 11-15-09 Sara Lincoln
Most people believe that a mortal is a person who _________, and that an immortal is
a person who ____________. What do you believe? A mortal is _________________
and an immortal is ______________________.
Thousands of years ago, the Greeks and Romans had many gods: Mars, Venus, Mercury, and Zeus who was the ‘king of the gods.’ These gods were called ‘immortals’ These mythological gods were popular long ago. Do people in our world today still believe in ‘gods’? _____Today these ‘gods’ have other names, for example, mat_______, s______, dis_________, and d________.
It seems that people today do not believe in ‘immortals.’ Most people believe that every man will d_____ because s/he is a m________, and mortals die.
Mary Baker Eddy heard God telling her something very different: man is God’s reflection therefore cannot die. Is this like what God told Christ Jesus to say, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”_______? Matt. 5: 48. Man cannot die. Man is as alive as her Creator Mind!
Be perfect; man does not die. These are not impossible expectations. These demands illustrate ‘science’ and science is the ________ of being which includes demons_______. Not demons but demonstration!
Does demonstration mean changing the human or material situation? ______ What a surprise that the answer is ______. Demonstration is the mental action you take, mentally accepting and holding on to the truth that God is the only Creator and always in control. As I take that mental action, physical healing is the result. The human and ‘material’ problem is corrected, dismissed, healed. You might want to read the article “What is the demonstration” in the Christian Science Journal, Nov. 2009, page 50-51.
Jesus said, if you want to see the kingdom of God you must be born ______. John 3: 3.
P_____ said “…put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness”? Eph. 4: 24 put. P_______ gave this command in his letter to the __________, to the church in E__________. Is Paul’s command similar to Christ Jesus’ command, ‘Be ye therefore perfect?’_______ Is Paul saying, be immortal, don’t be mortal? _____
Paul even tells us how to put on and be ‘perfect man.’ Paul said (II Cor. 4: 18)
Don’t look at the things that are________. Look at the things that are ______ ______.
Christian Science also tells us how to put on and be the ‘perfect man’: SH 519: 14-16. …throw off the ______ _______; reach (put on) the ________ ______ ___ ________.
In Luke 7: 36-39, 44-48 Jesus explained to the P________ that a sinner can indeed put off sinful mortality and put on sinless immortality. But how can a sinner put on the perfect man? The religious leaders in Jesus’ day, the P__________, said a sinner is a sinner and should be treated like a sinner. But Jesus said, “Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she ________ ________.” See verse 47-48. Love is immortality.
What does this story mean for you and me? Perhaps it means this. I can do what Jesus did. “Jesus beheld in ________ the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. SH 476: 32. What is ‘Science’? _________________
Science and Health says, “the way to extract error from mortal mind is to pour in truth through flood-tides _____ ________.” SH 201: 17
Does every mortal want to be more like Christ Jesus? ______ Christ Jesus is the highest and truest model, but “mortals must change their __________ in order to improve their models.” SH 260: 19-20. What is your ideal, your goal? ………………………….
Christ Jesus said, still says, you don’t have to be content with thought-models that present man as ‘fallen, sick, _________, and dying.’ You can choose “p__________ God and p__________ man, as {your} basis of thought and demonstration.” SH 259: 11-12.
I don’t want to sin. Do you? _____ If I don’t want to sin then I need to be immortal man. “Immortal man demonstrates the government of God, good, in which is no power to sin.” SH 405: 19. Isn’t that great? Under God’s government, I’m not even able to sin!! I need to remember that man “…has _____ separate mind from God…and _____ single quality underived from Deity….” SH 475: 13. To practice immortality is to be always ready with a no-no, yes-yes.
Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, asked Jesus to come to his home and heal his daughter who was dying. Just as Jairus was asking, someone said, too late. She’s dead. {She was only a mortal, and mortals die}. But Jesus said. “______ ______: ________ ______
Luke 8: 50. What happened next? Read the whole story in Luke 8: 41-42, 49-55.
Were you born because a man and a woman (your parents) wanted a child? ______
You were born because God had a wonderful idea and expressed it (manifested it)
as you! Thank you Father-Mother God. John 1: 12 as, 13.
You are the son of God – immortal -- if you are led (governed) by the Spirit of God.
And the Spirit says, YES, that’s right! Rom. 8: 14, 16, 17.
Christian Science asks a question which we also need to ask: “Can there be any birth or death for man, the spiritual image and likeness of God? ______ SH 206: 25-28.
Jesus really meant it when he said (John 8: 51): “If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.” That’s like saying, he shall never be mortal. See also SH 429: 31-4.

Adam and Fallen Man
Adam and Fallen Man 11-8-09 Sara Lincoln
Many people over hundreds of years have written stories, ‘histories,’ of creation from their own point of view. ‘Point of view’ means ………
Mary Baker Eddy studied the Bible for many years and listened for God’s Word (Truth) about the creation and nature of man. What were her conclusions:
*God is G_____ and the only C_____
*A perfect God can make only a p______ man and universe
*God keeps on being God so God’s creations do not, cannot, fail or fall away.
For hundreds of years before Mary Baker Eddy wrote the book that helps us understand Creator and Creation, people were asking, ‘Who was the first man? Who was the first woman?’ These people already had a point of view (a belief) before they asked the question. They believed that man is mortal, material, and disobedient, with a mind of his own. The creation stories they wrote were true to these beliefs.
The Adam and Eve story was probably written about 1000 BCE. At that time, the Hebrews were a strong nation and D_______ was their King. Over the next 900 years, prophets faithful to the one God gave the Hebrew people a better understanding of God. Who were some of these prophets? Let’s look again at our Bible Time Line.
A spiritual account of creation, Genesis 1, was written about 500 BCE. In this true history, Spirit-God reveals a spiritual expression of itself, a spiritual creation where man and woman have d__________ and are declared to be g______, not fallen.
Gen. 1: 26, 27, 31. Would our good parent God let its children become ‘bad’ or ‘fallen’?__
Mortalnomind is the star of the untrue history and tries to get people to believe it.
Is it successful?______ Do many (most) people believe they are mortal? ______
Mortalnomind believes itself, but woman/man (like Abraham) looks higher for a heavenly view. Do you remember how Abraham became the first man to look for a heavenly view, to know and serve the one God? God told him to leave…………….…………...….and go to…………….…………….….. Gen. 12: 1.
In the Old Testament, Abraham, Moses, and many prophets obeyed God’s call to teach the people the truth about the One God. Who was the great teacher of this great truth in the New Testament? ______________ He received and held on to the Truth.
Now, C__________ and C___________ S_____________ receive and hold on to this truth by learning about God from the ________ and from ________________________.
The Apostle Paul explained what it means to ‘hold on’: “If we ________ in the Spirit, let us also ________ in the Spirit.” Gal. 5: 25.
This book is called Galatians because it was P______ letter to the church in G_________.
Our textbook says, “________ is the cement of civilization and progress.” SH 57: 1
‘Chastity’ means ……………
This declaration about progress is in the chapter on ___________. Does that mean that chastity applies only to married people? _______
Do you remember the story of Naaman? He was a captain in the Syrian army and he also had a skin disease called leprosy. See how much of this story you can tell in your own words, then read the story in II Kings 5: 1-4, 9-14.
Was Naaman healed by ‘dipping himself seven times’ in the Jordan River? ______
Who are the main characters in this story? Naaman; the prophet __________; A little ______; and Naaman’s servants who said “…________ and be clean.” Verse 13.
It looked like Naaman had fallen into a bad habit of pride and belief in disease.
Did God still love Naaman? _____ How do you know? ………
Why does Christian Science teach “the nothingness of sin, sickness, and death?”
SH 345: 6-13.
The Psalmist warns us: “Cease from ________, and forsake ________: fret not thyself in any wise to _____ ______.” Ps. 37: 8.
Is it OK to be angry? ______ Science and Health says (406: 19) “Resist evil – error of every sort – and it will flee from you.” How do you ‘resist evil’?.........
What do you think are very harmful attitudes and actions? For example, anger, selfishness…..
Mary Baker Eddy says many things about sin, but maybe this statement sums it up:
“It is a sin to believe that aught can overpower omnipotent and eternal Life, and this Life must be brought to light by the understanding that there is no death, as well as by other graces of Spirit.” SH 428: 32
About 800 years ago, the Christian church named seven sins which were later called the seven ‘deadly sins:’ pride, covetousness, lust anger, gluttony, envy, sloth.
The wise people writing the book of Proverbs, King Solomon and others, also listed ‘seven things the Lord hates’ (Prov. 6: 16-19): a proud _______; a lying _________; ______ that shed innocent blood; a _______{mind} that devises wicked plans; ________ that make haste to run to evil. a _______ __________ that speaketh lies;
a man who _____ _________ among brothers.
What special thing did you notice about the book of Proverbs on the Bible Time Line?
What was the name of the man who betrayed Jesus with a kiss? ______ Which of the ‘deadly sins’ influenced him?......... He had fallen into some bad habits, like gr_______ and jeal__________. Maybe he was angry that he wasn’t as pure as his Master. He did not overcome these ungodlike habits with spiritual convictions such as gen____________, gra____________, and unself____________
Was Judas a ‘fallen man’? ________
Everyone must ‘…wake to the ________ ___ ________’ so that what will cease? …..
SH 218: 32.
What is a main reason for studying this subject of Adam and Fallen Man twice a year?
Many people over hundreds of years have written stories, ‘histories,’ of creation from their own point of view. ‘Point of view’ means ………
Mary Baker Eddy studied the Bible for many years and listened for God’s Word (Truth) about the creation and nature of man. What were her conclusions:

Would our good parent God let its children become ‘bad’ or ‘fallen’? ______
