Everlasting Punishmenr

Everlasting Punishment 5-3-09 Sara Lincoln

God made man free. (SH 227: 16). Are you free to make your own choices, to choose a life separate from God? _______

John says we are the sons and daughters of God right n_____ . We can act out the truth of this fact every day, and if we do, we never lose life or hope and we are never punished.

What is ‘fraud’? It seems to be a voice offering man something the speaker does not have. For example, a voice might say, “Give me $100. and I’ll show you how you can get $1000.” It’s a trick because the seeming speaker does not have $1000. Or the voice might say, “God gives you ‘free will' to choose selfishness and you won’t be punished for it.” It’s a trick, because selfishness is always being destroyed by Love. In the Adam and Eve allegory, was the serpent trying to defraud Eve? _________

Fraud is the lying voice of ______________, not the life-giving voice of ___________.
We can recognize the lying voice only if we are listening to the Christ voice.
Let’s memorize this explanation of what the Christ voice does: SH 332: 9-11.

Does the Christ punish human consciousness? _____ God’s message to us through the Christ does not punish but it does __________us if we are making wrong choices.

God, the Creator, does not give any man a desire to sin or a mind that can sin.
SH 475: 28-31. This fact about you, me, and everyone is found in the answer to the question, “What is man?” What chapter in Science and Health is all questions and answers? ____________________. The question, “What is man?” is on page _________.

In the first book of the Bible, called Genesis, there’s a story of twin brothers named _________ and __________. Jacob did something very dishonest: he pretended to be Esau so he could inherit his father’s blessing and estate. Did God give Jacob this ‘evil thought and aim’?________ This selfish desire slipped in like a serpent only because Jacob was listening to the lying voice of error instead of the life-giving voice of truth. He kept forgetting to obey this good advice: SH 231: 20-21, “To hold yourself superior to sin, because ______ ______ ______ superior to it and governs man, is ____ ________.”

Isaac, the father, could not see clearly so he believed it when Jacob said, “I am Esau, thy firstborn.” Gen. 27: 19. Isaac wanted proof so Jacob tricked his father by putting _______ on his hands and neck. What was Jacob’s punishment for this lie? ______

Did God punish Jacob? _____ “Sin is _____ _____ _____________.” SH 537: 14-15
Will the punishment last forever? _____ Because Esau wanted to kill him for stealing the birthright, Jacob had to leave his family and country. That seemed like a great punishment, but what was God, Truth doing? God kept on loving the true man and inspiring Jacob to refuse the lie called mortal man. God’s plan was that Jacob would learn the truth of being, that “Divine Love __________ and ____________ man.”
SH 6: 3.
Punishment is never forever! Every man has to wake up and be the son and daughter of God, born of God. I John 3: 9. Are you the son and daughter of God? ________

Jacob had a life-changing experience when he was on his way back to his country and family. He lay down to sleep but an angel woke him up. Jacob struggled. He wanted the angel to bless him, even as he had wanted his father Isaac to bless him many years earlier. While he was separated from his family and country, Jacob was learning that yes indeed, ‘Divine Love was correcting and governing him.’ Sin’s self-punishment could not outlast or overcome God’s plan for him. Jacob had gradually learned compassion and humility, and the angel he was struggling with gave him the new name of ___________. Genesis 32: 28

What was the result of Jacob’s struggle? SH 309: 7. “He conquered _________ ________ with the understanding of _______ and of ____________ _____________. “
Eventually Jacob had 12 sons, the Children of Israel. Let’s read the spiritual interpretation in the Glossary. Are you one of the Children of Israel? _______

It is because of the c_________ between the Creator and creation that everyone wakes up to the truth of b_________: perfect God and perfect man. Christ did not come to destroy sin. “Christ came to destroy the _________ of sin.” SH 473: 6. What’s the difference?

Thank you God! There is no everlasting punishment! There is everlasting __________ (Isa. 54: 8) which causes every man to give up evil thoughts and aims and accept “enlarged _____________, a wider sphere of _________ and __________, a more expansive love, a higher and more ________________ __________. “ SH 265: 10

I’m glad I’m learning about Christian Science. It shows me how to think beyond punishment and demonstrate _______ and ________ and ________. Hymn 207.
