Bible Friends in Genesis and Exodus

I think an expanding knowledge of the Bible is natural and essential for people, Christian Scientists, for example, who read it every day as part of their study of the weekly Bible Lesson.

Here’s how I used this list of ‘Bible Friends in Genesis and Exodus’ with my 7th – 8th grade Sunday School class. I asked them to fold the sheet from right to left, covering the identifying information. The students looked at the list of names and put a check mark beside those names they did not recognize. We looked at the names not checked to see if we agreed on who they were, then we began to look at the checked names. Sometimes as I began to tell a story using that name, the students would remember something about the person. We worked on this list of Bible Friends for about half the hour over several Sundays.

This lesson gave the students an opportunity to listen to what they knew, and did not know. This self-assessment approach, along with my coaching, engaged their interest in mastering this knowledge regarding major players in Genesis and Exodus.
